Eligibility Worker Reminder

As summer winds down and the weather begins to change it is a reminder that the start of a new school year is here.

Children look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. They also look forward to getting those new clothes to replace their summer clothing or simply to replace the ones they have outgrown.

Eligibility workers find themselves processing a large amount of clothing allowance requests in the months of August and September.

Clothing Allowance Rules: Clothing Allowances are $276. An Initial clothing allowance can be paid when a child enters placement and does not have an adequate supply of clothing. Only one Initial clothing allowance can be paid during a child’s entire episode in foster care. A supplemental clothing allowance of $276 can be paid, when necessary, not to exceed once a year.
